CRASHDOLLZ-‘Punks In Amerika’

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 25, 2016 by TheManicBlogger

crashdollzI had a chance to listen to the new CrashDollz cd, ‘Punks In Amerika‘, several times. The Detroit rockers deliver 11 tracks of hardcore, High Octane Punk, that incorporates elements of both metal, and garage. The songs are filled with captivating melodies,  dynamite riffs, and a way cool rhythm section. There are wonderful changes, some cool effects, rocking vocals, and blisteringly sweet guitar licks and solos.  The album is a powerful, guitarcentric trip through anarchy, and anti-establishment sentiments, delivered with wonderfully angst riddled vocals. CrashDollz offer some insanely exciting, in your face, power punk. Its good to know that there are Punks In Amerika! Favorite tracks: “Murder A Go-Go“, and “Activate“. You really need to check this out here, and buy a couple of cds. And, if you are ever see them playing in your home town, go and see them live. Really.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 17, 2016 by TheManicBlogger

Here are a few good reasons that we are excited by 2016. There are new releases due from some of our favorite Indie bands, this year.

minnows55Stalwarts of the Belfast scene, The Minnows are set to release a long awaited, and long overdue album. If the track, ‘Oh Man‘,  is any indication of the road the band is on, this will be EPIC!

youngbenjamins55Saskatoon, Canada’s, Young Benjamins, last released an album in 2013. 3 years later, and we can’t wait to get our hands on this.

lostboys55The darlings of Southhampton, U.K., The Lost Boys are set for a 2016 release. Check out ‘China In The Sink‘, and you’ll be as excited as we are for this one.

thecorsets55We have heard, that Toronto, Canada’s, The Corsets are working on a release. The new track, ‘Drivin’ Away‘, has us sitting here with our fingers crossed.

jp55Toronto‘s Cameron House regulars, Jane’s Party, have an album set for release in the spring.  Its been about 3 years since their last release, and after hearing ‘Coming On Strong‘, well, we hope its an early spring.

THE TRACKS

the tracks

Another talented band from London, Ontario, The Tracks, released a 7 track album in January, 2016. Filled with wonderful melodies, wrapped in a killer rock-blues-folk vibe,  the songs offer nice changes, some way cool guitar riffs and solos,  and insanely good vocal tracks. This Sydney Maguire can sing! There are some sweet harmonies and backing vocals, and influences from Country Rock (check out “Whiskey & Smokes“),  and Arena Rock (listen to “The Story“). Not a bad song on the album. The Tracks are now on my list of bands that I have to see live. You can stream and purchase the self-titled album on bandcamp. Pay attention to this band.

WATERSHED HOUR-From Your Best Friend

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 6, 2016 by TheManicBlogger

WH4The recently released album by Watershed Hour, the Peterborough, Ontario alternative band, contains 6 uniquely original tracks. Filled with elements of garage, punk, and rock, From Your Best Friend offers cool melodies, nice changes and transition, and some wonderful riffs. The angst ridden songs deliver driving rhythms, pounding guitars, and wild drumming, highlighted with sweet guitar and bass solos, cool effects and dynamite vocals. There is a wonderfully dark and disturbing vibe that will pull you in. A punked up garage sound, with each track a musical free for all, a sort of well constructed jam. Favorite tracks include ‘Kristi Is My Drinking Buddy‘ , and ‘The Lone Paraders‘. Check them out on their bandcamp page, and then buy yourself a digital download, or cassette. Go on, take a walk on the wild and eerie side.
