One of our top picks for album of the year, The Nursery deliver a psych/rock/pop sound that is just incredible. Not a bad track on the disc. Eccentric. Esoteric. Weird. Great songs with amazing production values. This is a must have for your collection. A thoroughly enjoyable wild ride.

MUST HAVE CANADIAN INDIE ALBUMS-August 2013

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 3, 2013 by TheManicBlogger

Well, this summer proved to be one of exceptional bands releasing incredible music. Here is I Can’t Believe My Earz picks for August.

comedy1THE COMEDY

The Montreal  band released Deadlights, a dark album with haunting melodies images of alienation and social desolation. The brooding music conjure up eerie images of disenchantment. With shade of King Crimson and Pink Floyd, The Comedy are a Progressive Rock band with an edge, and maybe an axe to grind. Melancholy and beautiful. A must have selection.

aotg2ARMS OF THE GIRL

Versions of Happiness, this Ottawa band’s latest EP, provides amazing vocals, great rock riffs, and wonderful melodies. Pop/Rock with a subtle country twang, gives this album a feeling of warmth. A fun and easy listen with great songs. Blue Rodeo meets Poco. Love this.

You can listen to Arms Of The Girl here: http://armsofthegirl.bandcamp.com/

ss2SOCIAL STRIFE

It took a long time for Social Strife to release their self titled EP, but it was worth the wait. In your face rock with pop sensibilities makes this hard rock album uniquely listenable. Strong songs, with great melodies and socially relevant lyrics give the music an edge beyond traditional heavy rock. Great guitar solos, driving drums and thundering bass create a totally full sound. Tremendously fun and energetic rock for the taking. Pay particular attention to “Aliens And Freaks“. Get yours now.
