The Lost Boys-Nose Bleeds

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 27, 2018 by TheManicBlogger

I have been following The Lost Boys for a few years, and had become a fan of their stylish Brit Pop. Their latest album, Nosebleeds, set for release on February 10/18, delivers an edgier, more artistic sound. The songs push limits and capture the imagination, while offering unforgettable melodies and wonderful harmonies. The album expresses the band’s growth as musicians and songwriters, as they embrace different styles and arrangements. There is a Dynamite Pop-Punk feel to the album, with some very cool guitar and vocal tracks.

Nosebleeds opens with ‘Addicted”, a Pop-Punk treat with a wonderful melody, and ends with ‘Nervosa’, a strange and eerie trip with its accapella break and progressive themes. The changes are exciting, and the experience will take you places you didn’t expect to go. This is what happens when Brit-Pop develops attitude. If this was a painting, it would be a Dali. Definitely one for the collection.

MUST HAVE INDIE SONGS FOR YOUR SUMMER PLAYLIST

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on July 4, 2014 by TheManicBlogger

It’s summer. So instead of  our usual Indie album picks for June, the staff at I Can’t Believe My Earz has come up with a list of songs that are a must for your summer music playlist. Very cool.

XPRIME– ‘Early To The Sun’

With harmonies  that rival The Beach Boys, and melody lines that just don’t quite,  this song does everything right. A foot tapping, hand clapping, sing along song if ever there was one.

GIGI-‘Put Your Freakin Hands Up

This song delivers an incredible rhythm, and an insanely infectious hook. Destined to be playing in your head for a long while. In the meantime, it will have you dancing in the streets.

THE MINNOWS-‘Time Flies’

Amazing track that more that stands the test of time. Cool harmonies, a wonderful melody, and a great story. The keyboards are a standout. This is my ‘have a beer or 2 and sit by the pool’ song.

SEAPONY-‘What You Wanted’

A way cool 60’s beat, terrific riff, great changes, and sweet vocals make this a must have summer track. The harmonies are wonderful, and the melody will have you singing and dancing up and down  the beach.

THE AFTER HOURS-‘Going To The Go-Go’

A terrific rock song with great harmonies, wonderful guitar licks, and some way cool harmonica. Go on and put the top down and crank this one up..way loud.

THE EASY OUTS-‘Come on Come On

Dynamite garage rock. Sweet guitar licks, wonderful vocals, a great  melody, and a driving beat. Jump in the GTO and Come On Come On…..

THE LOST BOYS-‘I Fall For Everyone’

Wonderful 1960’s melody, with cool guitar riffs, great changes, and sweet harmonies.  A perfectly wonderful pop song that will make you feel like London, 1965.

Enjoy the summer with I Can’t Believe My Earz. Get the best music you’ve never heard all summer long.

THE LOST BOYS-Answers On A Postcard

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 17, 2014 by TheManicBlogger

lostboys1The second album from Southampton, England’s The Lost Boys , has thrilled me with yet more U.K. pop. Answers On A Postcard, the follow up to 2011’s Not Arf It’s…The Lost Boys, delivers 5 incredible pop songs.

The album opens with “Broken Story 1“, an interesting ballad, with a wonderful melody and great harmonies. The vocals are dropped behind the instrumentation that includes acoustic guitar. The changes and transitions are nice, and the vocal track stands out. “I Fall For Everyone” has a way cool surf music hook, an amazing bridge, and a dynamite guitar solo. The wonderful drumming, the sweet riff, and the exceptional chorus, make this a terrific power pop song. The cool melody, and great hook of “Moving Pictures“, pull the incredible bridge, amazing changes and transitions, and the wonderful instrumentation together. A dynamite 60’s pop song with modern elements. “The Karaoke Age“, returns us to power pop, and offers some incredible screaming guitars, a wonderful melody, with exceptional harmonies, great changes, and some very cool riffs and mini solos. My favorite track, “From Love To Hate“, lostboys2has several different songs within it. It plays like a concept song, with distinct musical movements. The changes and transitions are effortless and perfect. The harmonies and melody are indescribably good. I hear acoustic guitar, bells, cool lead riffs and great keyboards, and an unbelievable bridge. Brilliant!!

The album is dynamite. Fueled by the song writing of Daniel Ash (not to be confused with the Daniel Ash of Bauhaus and Love And Rockets fame), The Lost Boys have created an Indie-Mod-Pop sound that is eccentric, eclectic and esoteric. The guitar is subtle, yet always evident. The effects are cool. Daniel Ash’s vocals, which drive the songs, are reminiscent of Ray Davies, with distinct, working class English sensibilities. There is an Andy lostboys3Partridge influence to the transitions, with different musical themes  incorporated into 1 song. This guy is not afraid to put any element he wants into his music. The melodies are infectious and the hooks, unforgettable. On opening for Paul Weller (The Jam, The Style Council), Weller called Daniel Ash “a great little song writer”. I don’t know how big or tall Daniel Ash is, but he is, indeed, a great song writer Like something out of Bowie‘s Absolute Beginners, this mod-popster could very well be the pop genius of a new generation.
